摘要
新疆少数民族的英语教学相对而言是一个薄弱环节。鉴于此,笔者对新疆巴音郭楞蒙古自治州(简称巴州)8所学校蒙古族学生的英语教学作了调查,研究分析了这些学校蒙古族学生的英语教学现状、存在的主要问题及原因、蒙古族学生学习语言的优势对他们语言学习的正面影响等,目的在于强调新疆少数民族的英语教学也应该得到重视与开发。本调查研究探索了一些建议如提前开设汉语课程,发挥母语的促进作用;开设远程教育;社会学校的重视以及教师的个人努力钻研等,以期教师在外语教学中注重因材施教,充分发挥蒙古族学生的主观能动性及优势,提高教学效果。
The teaching of English has not been given its due emphasis in Xinjiang. In terms of quality,students in that province receive less than Han students at the same level,in other parts of the country. This study investigates the teaching and learning of English,involving Mongolian students' in Bazhou(Bayinguoleng Inner-Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture),Xinjiang. The attempted investigation shows the current status of English teachers' qualifications,and of students' learning outcomes,isolating problems and diffi-culties in the teaching practice,analyzing the root causes. Certain benefits in the study of English,uniquely available to Mongolian learners,are also examined. The study aims to draw attention to the plight of English education in Xinjiang middle schools,and to recommend measures that may be taken to help better the learning process.
