摘要
本文通过探讨新教传教士马礼逊首作于19世纪初的《五车韵府》在19世纪中后期上海的几次重印,阐述了"双语字典"这一特定的书面文本在通商口岸语言环境下的形成过程与特点。在通商口岸"马赛克式"的语言景观中,字典的功能之一即凸显出了洋泾浜口语与标准书面语之间的差别。通过挖掘字典重版的社会原因,本文力图勾画出19世纪中后期上海英语出版业的一个大致状况。
Through discussing the book Wu Che Yun Fu written at the beginning of the 19th century and its several republications in Shanghai in the middle and late 19th century,this paper explains the formation and features of bilingual dictionary-a written text that came into being in a specific language environment--commercial ports.The paper makes an attempt to draw a picture of the English Publishing of Shanghai in the Middle and Late 19th Century by analyzing the social reasons for the republications of the dictionary.
