摘要
Lefevere的诗学、意识形态、赞助人等理论对中国文化和文学的英译研究具有重要指导作用。美国著名翻译家伯顿.沃森在五十多年的职业翻译生涯中翻译出版了大量的有关中国文化和文学典籍,为促进中国文化在西方的传播作出了重要贡献。通过对他的诗学和意识形态的分析,指出他的成功在于他的适当的翻译策略和赞助人对他译作的赞助。
Lefevere＇s theory of poetics, ideology and patronage provides an effective guide to research done to the English translation of ancient Chinese classics. Burton Watson, who has translated abundant Chinese classics related to Chinese culture and literature as a professional translator since in 1950s, has made a great contribution-to spreading abroad Chinese culture and literature. This paper analyzes his poetics and ideology and points out his success in translation attributed to his proper translation strategy and the patronage to his publications.
