おhe colour reaction of a new reagent 1(6nitro2benzothiazolyl)3(4nitrophenyl)triazene(NBTNPT) with Hg(Ⅱ) is described.Results show that the orangeyellow complex appears at pH 9.9-10.6 butter solution of Na2B4O7NaOH in the presence of Triton X100. The maxmium absorption is at 442nm whereas the maxmium negative absorption is at 528nm.By using dual wavelength spectrophotometry,the measured and reference wavelengths are 442nm and 528nm respectively.The molar absorptivity is 2.21×105L·mol-1·cm-1,Beer′s law is applicable in the range of 06μg/25mL for Hg(Ⅱ).The method has been used to determine microamounts of Hg(Ⅱ) in waste water and human hair with satisfactory results.
