摘要
虽然英国女作家乔治·爱略特一直以来被列为经典作家,但她的经典小说也具有通俗特色:一,她的小说取材于中下层人们的生活,反映了通俗小说的大众化品格;二,其主题主要围绕当时女性感兴趣的爱情、婚姻和家庭等问题展开,反映了通俗小说的世俗化审美观的特点;三,她所运用的文化模式和情节模式也体现了通俗小说的模式化特色。
Although George Eliot, a British female writer, has been ranked among the writers of the classics, her classic novels also had features of popular novels： Firstly, because her novels drew the materials from the ordinary lives of the middle and lower classes of the society, the popularity feature of popular novels could be reflected in her novels. Secondly, since the themes of her novels are mainly around the topic of love, marriage and family, which stimulate great interests among female readers, secularized aesthetic character of popular novels were reflected. And thirdly, popular novels＇ stereotype feature could be observed in the using of cultural mode and plot mode in her novels
