An Analysis of Preference for Teaching in Mongolian or in Chinese——A Questionnaire Survey of Middle School Students of S Banner in Inner Mongolia

摘要 本文基于对内蒙古S旗中学生的问卷调查,从家庭背景、蒙汉语言能力、语言使用态度等方面对蒙汉语授课取向进行定量分析。分析结果显示:由于受汉语能力的限制,选择汉语授课的蒙古族虽不多,但从语言使用的态度上可以看出强劲的汉语授课取向。S旗蒙语授课生源的减少,反映了蒙语授课基础教育的衰退趋势。 Based on a questionnaire survey of middle school students of S Banner in Inner Mongolia, a quantitative analysis was made on their preference for teaching in Mongolian or in Chinese taking into consideration of family background, ability of the two languages and attitude of language use. The results show that due to their poor Chinese ability, the number of Mongolian students choosing Chinese as the teaching language is small, but in their attitude of language use, they have a strong preference for using Chinese in teaching. The decreasing number of students in classes taught in Mongolian in S Banner reflects a waning tendency of using Mongolian in teaching in elementary education.
