Fiji, a multi-ethnic nation, has undergone tremendous social transformation in recent years. However, the traditional Fijian idea of "somatic dominance" remains largely unchanged. By investigating into the Fijian world that centers around the body, including notably inheritance of lands and houses, cross cousin marriage, inheritance of appellation, etc., this paper examines how the common knowledge of Fijian people is established against the social backdrop of globalization and diversification. It is true that the current Fijian society has already been plunged into the complicated modern system and monetary economy, but this does not mean that Fijian people have relinquished their traditional culture or that their traditional culture has died out. Political and economic globalization has no unquestioned restraint on the lifestyle of local society. By changing their society and culture into an interactive system with native naturalism and a symbiotic system with external factors, modern Fijians have retained their own world.
