古杨梅林分布在岳麓山国家级风景名胜区东北部,面积13.3hm2,600株,最大株地径112cm,分生7大枝干,高13m,冠幅280m2,于道光年间(1821-1850年)嫁接培育,距今150多年。抗日战争时期,古杨梅林曾是著名的"长沙四次会战"炮兵阵地,遭受日本飞机100多次轰炸,当年抗日将士在树干上刻写的标语犹存,成为长沙市特有的森林景观和革命传统教育基地。
Ancient waxberries occur in the northeast part of Yuelu Mountain, a national historic sites and scenic spots, with an area of 13.3 hm^2, the largest tree has 7 separated trunks and a ground diameter of 112 cm, a height of 13 m, a crown width of 228 m^2. The trees were grafted in Daoguang period (1821-1850) in Qing dynasty and have a history of 150 years. During the anti-Japan war, the site was the mortar positions of the well- known "Four major battles in Changsha" and the trees were bombed for more than 100 times by Japanese planes. Now, the slogans on trunks carved by anti-Japan soldiers are still visible, it has become a unique forest landscape in Changsha City.
