In the middle and late of Tang Dynasty, crown princes began to live in Eastern Shao Yang Court and Western Shao Yang Court, buildings in Da Ming Palace (a place where the emperor dealt with national affairs) instead of living with their family in Eastern Palace. As the two Court were adjacent to Han Lin Department, the imperial academy, and Shen-ce Forces, the military institution respectively, the political structure of Da Ming Palace can be reflected and this arrangement even affected crown princes'power during the ruling of Emperor Xianzong and Emperor Muzong. Besides, crown princes' leaving made the civilian officials responsible for the imperial family controlled by the eunuchs, who got the power of issuing imperial edicts to crown a prince or not. This also indirectly weakened the power of crown princes.
