Obesity is the result of the interaction between genetic and environmental factors. Susceptive genes of obesity can provide important insights into the mechanism underlying this condition. The advent of genomewide association study (GWAS) provides an important approach for studying susceptive genes of obesity. GWAS has recently identified some novel genetic factors with strong associations with obesity, such as FTO (the fat mass and obesity associated gene ), INSIG2 (insulin induced gene 2), PFKP (platelet type phosphofructokinase) and so on. At present, some of them are still controversial, so it is essential to perform more statistically powered replications of GWAS findings.
