只要是研究当代中国,文革都将是无法回避的话题。剑桥大学出版社2008年6月刚刚出版的,由新西兰奥克兰大学亚洲研究学院康浩教授(Paul Clark)所著的《文革文化史》(The Chinese Cultural Revolution:A History)是近年来国外唯一的一部以文革中文化艺术为主题的专著。《文革文化史》的一个特点是它的涵盖面之广,文革期间的文化事象,如样板戏、革命芭蕾舞剧、前期的红卫兵歌曲、语录歌、中后期的器乐曲、中小型舞蹈作品、《战地新歌》中的歌曲、话剧、曲艺、电影、官方审定出版的小说诗歌、民间流传的手抄本、知青地下文学、美术、建筑等等,都在其讨论之中。
The Cultural Revolution is a topic could not evade while research the contemporary China. Paul Clark is Professor of Chinese in the School of Asian Studies and Director of the China Studies Centre in the New Zealand Asia Institute. His The Chinese Cultural Revolution: A History published by Cambridge University Press in June 2008. The book is only one monograph at abroad with the theme about the culture and arts during the Chinese Cultural Revolution recent years. One of features of the book is its data coverage so wide, include the cultural event during the Cultural Revolution, such as the Model Beijing Opera, revolutionary ballets, songs of Red Guard and songs of Quotations from Chairman Mao in prophase, instrumental music and dance works in late, songs from Zhandi Xinge (battlefield new songs), drama, folk art forms including ballad singing, story telling, comic dialogues, clapper talks, cross talks, movies, the novels and poems published by official approved, handwritten copies circulating among the people, underground literature of the educated youth, all of those been discussed in the book.
