摘要
托马斯.格雷是英国18世纪重要诗人。其代表作《墓园挽歌》,全诗弥漫着感伤情调。本文作者首先展示给读者不同译本包括作者自己的译作,让学生评价,其结果超出本文作者的预设。通过分析,作者认为译者的意识程度决定语境因素的介入程度,翻译适应选择的结果必然是翻译的多样性;多层次的读者群决定了对译文的不同预期和需求,因此译本的多样化是当今社会的需求。
Thomas Gray was an important poet in the 18th century. His masterpiece, Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard, is permeated with sentimental mood. Different versions have been shown to students, but their evaluations are beyond presupposition. Upon analysis, the article puts forward that translator＇s awareness determines the involvement of contextual factors, and the result is the diversity of translations which meet the needs of different readers.
