Field plot experiments were employed to investigate soil temperature effects of different film mulching modes about dry land seed- melon. The results showed that, compared with other mulching modes, the techniques of whole plastic-film mulching and planting in catchment furrows on ridges, especially its autumn mulching and early spring mulching could significantly increase soil temperature in seed-melon growing period. Compared with the half fiat mulching before sowing, autumn mulching, early spring mulching and sowing mulching of the techniques increased the temperature of 0-20cm soil layer by 2.8-5.4℃ ,2.4-4.5℃ and 0-2.7℃ from seed-melon sowing to anthesis ,respectively;the techniques especially its autumn mulching and early spring mulching could increase the total accumulated temperature during seed-melon growing period and average accumulated temperature remarkably which created the temperature condition to yield increasing and expanding planting area of seed-melon. Compared with half flat mulching before sowing, the total accumulated temperature during seed-melon growing period of autumn mulching, early spring mulching and sowing mulching of the techniques increased 527.1℃, 454.1℃ and 258.0℃ ,respectively ;the average accumulated temperature of them increased 4.2℃, 3.6℃ and 2.0℃, respectively. Compared with whole flat mulching and conventional half flat mulching, the techniques of whole plasticfilm mulching and planting in catchment furrows on ridges had dramatically yield increasing effects.
