The paper makes an introduction to Rosemary Arrojo's metaphorical illustration of the survival of text meaning in her paper “Writing, Interpreting, and the Power Struggle for the Control of Meaning: Scenes from Kafka, Borges, and Kosztolanyi”, which tells how the power struggle for the control of meaning develops between the writer, the reader and the translator, and both the reader and translator are doomed to failure. The alleged power struggle denies the fact that the text, the reader and the translator are in a harmonious coexistence and neglects the reality that it is the translator who extends the life of text by introducing it into a new time and place. Such an illustration of the alleged power struggle among the writer, reader and translator brings us a fresh metaphorical perspective but does no good to the translation studies of rationality.
