摘要
本研究以Brown语料库和CLEC的统计结果和对比结果为基础,重点探讨英语连词though及其引导的从句的标记性\无标记性用法。文章认为"主句在前、though及其引导的从句在后"是英语的无标记性用法,其他则为标记性用法;中国英语学习者和英语本族语者对连词though及其引导的从句的使用存在明显差异,即中国学生不能像本族语者那样习惯性地使用其无标记用法,同时过多或过少使用其标记性用法,这很可能是二语习得规律和母语负迁移双重影响的结果。
The thesis is devoted to exploring the marked/unmarked uses of the adverbial clause introduced by the conjunctive word though and the differences between Chinese English learners' and English native speakers' choice,in their writings,of its marked/unmarked use.The statistics from the searching results of Brown Corpus show that the structure of "Primary clause + though clause" is the unmarked use of the English adverbial clause introduced by though,while the other structures are its marked uses.The comparison between the searching results of Brown and CLEC illustrates clearly that Chinese English learners use these adverbial clauses in a way strikingly different from native English speakers,that is,they are incapable of adopting into their writings its unmarked use in a habitual way as native speakers do and are likely to over-apply or under-apply its marked uses.This undesirable result comes possibly from the joint intervention in learners' English use by the inherited law concerning second language acquisition and the negative transfer of Chinese into English learning.
