Pedagogical Reflections on the Design of a Course in Audiovisual Translation

摘要 本文是对上海外国语大学英语学院翻译专业开设"影视翻译"课程教学的思考。课程从理论讲解到实际操练,主要由几个板块构成:影视翻译研究概览、配音翻译、字幕翻译、戏剧翻译等。今天翻译行业正在实现从传统的、手工作坊式的翻译流程和运作模式到现代化、信息化、商业化的翻译流程和运作模式的转变,因此,我们在教学理念上应该做出相应的调整和更新,在传统学术性的基础上,更注重职业性,兼顾趣味性。作者认为,上好专业性较强的翻译选修课必须在教学理念、资源利用以及师资培养等方面转变观念:突出学生的主体角色,充分利用网络资源,加强与市场的联系,加快与国内外高校的交流。 This paper reflects on the teaching of a course in Audiovisual Translation at Shanghai International Studies University for the past two years. Integrating theory and practice, this course has as its components a historical review of audiovisual translation, principles for dubbing and subtitling, and theatrical translation. By sharing the design of the course with colleagues in the field, the author points out working practices in audiovisual translation are experiencing fundamental changes. With this change in mind, universities must play an essential role in training these new professionals. For example, students must be able to work in groups and under pressure, with very stringent deadlines; they must be familiar with software packages and the internet and they must have an insight into the inner workings of the professional world, not only view it from inside the academic cocoon. To this end, universities need more resources and must show more initiative in curricular development and research carried out in the field.
