Distribution, biomass, morphology, seed and habitat of eelgrass (Zostera marina L. ) were surveyed within the water depth of 2 m of inshore areas in Lidao Town of Rongcheng City (between Mata Jiao and "Waizhe Dao" of Lidao Bay) in June 2008. gelgrasses in the survey areas show a patch-shape distribution and area for each patch is between 1.5 and 2. 0 m^2. Average spacing, density, and biomass of eelgrass are 1 650 ind/m^2, and 3. 754 g/ind, respectively. For root, root length range is 2-14 cm and average root weight, root length, and diameter of root are 0. 432 4 g/ind, 4. 829 5 cm, and 0. 1 mm, respectively. For rhizome, average rhizome weight, rhizome length and diameter of rhizome are 0. 460 9 g/ind, 4. 407 cm/ind and 2. 159 mm, respectively. For node, average numbers of node and node length are 9.27 nodes/ind and 5. 144 mm, respectively. For leaf, leaf length range is 17-70 cm and average leaf weigth, leaf width, leaf length and sheath length are 2. 294 g/ind, 5.28 cm, 45.23 cm and 6. 824 era, respectively. Flower of eelgrass is monosexual flower and hermaphrodite. There are two female flowers between two male flowers. The numbers of male flowers and female flowers are 13-19 and 7-11 ind/reproductive line, respectively. The character in sediment of eelgrass is gravel sand. The results in this paper enrich the knowledge of eelgrass ecology and provide data for study on restoration of injured eelgrass biome.
