David Lodge is a distinguished novelist and critic of contemporary Britain. Dr. Luo Yirong,a David Lodge scholar and translator from Ocean University of China,interviewed Professor Lodge in January 2007. This interview covers topics including the Postmodernism problem in David Lodge＇s writing,Bakhtin＇s influence upon him,the writing devices in his novels （including intertextuality,parody and its difference from travesty）,the debate on ＂two cultures＂ between science and humanities,the intellectual issues,the indispensable qualities of a successful novelist,his current novels—Author,Author and Deaf Sentence,and the status quo and trend of British novel.
