Voting mechanismis the institutional guarantee of democratic politics, but ithas a paradox. This paradox can be simply described as follows: when the voting participants realize that their votes have inappreciable influence on the result, they will not cast their votes in sacrifice of their free time and the transportation costs. The fact that there is only about half of the participant rate in the US General Election in fact provides the "insight" above with psychological and sociological bases. This thesis makes a specific analysis of this voting paradox and aims to indicate the following points of view: namely,in the process of attempting to solve the voting paradox problem, and how the rational choice theory starts from an excessively arbitrary premise and goes to the impasse of circular argument;thus it hopes to solve the malady of the rational choice theory by means of adding new variables to the voting motivation.
