The main function of rare earth in the amorphous alloy is briefly reviewed, including deoxidation, purifying the alloy liquid, increasing the glass forming ability and improving the soft magnetic property. It describes the action of Y, Ce, Er, Nd and Sc on the main amorphous alloy system, such as Fe-based, Zr-based, Abbased and Mg-based amorphous alloy. By analyzing the physical and chemical characteristics of rare earth elements, it can contribute to choose and integrate the different rare earth elements, as well as improve the performance of the amorphous alloy.
