The
influences of small content heavy rare earth element gadolinium on recrystallization in AgAu
alloys with mutual solubility were studied by differential scanning calorimetry, optical
microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and hardness measurement. It shows that in the
alloys which contain 02%(in mass fraction) Gd, there are dispersive second phase particles
formed by Ag, Au, and Gd. These particles result in increasing recrystallization temperature and
refining the grains of alloys. The recrystallization temperature of AgAuGd0.2 alloys increases
as the deformation increases. Small content Gd raises the apparent activation energy of AgAu
alloys.
