摘要
本文通过分析北大、浙大和同济大学高级阶段大学英语教学现状,认为大学英语通识教育和专门用途英语可以同步发展,是相辅相成的关系。研究认为大学生英语学习应该分为两个层次,三个阶段。“两个层次”即基础英语层次和专门用途英语层次(专业化阶段)。基础英语层次包含两个阶段:核心英语学习阶段和英语通识教育阶段。整个大学英语学习分为三个阶段:核心英语学习阶段、大学英语通识教育阶段和专门用途英语阶段。根据北大、浙大和同济大学的教学实践,文章进一步指出大学英语通识教育应该由大学英语老师来承担,而专门用途英语教学则主要应该由所在专业的专业老师来承担。
By analyzing the present situation of the higher level college English teaching of Peking University (PU), Zhejiang University (ZU) and Tongji University (TU), this paper tries to prove that English for Liberal Education (EI,E) and English for Special Purpose (ESP) can co-exist and supplement each other. College English learning should include two levels which can be divided into three stages. Two levels refer to General English (GE) and ESP. Three stages refer to core English learning stage & ELE stage, which are considered as GE, and ESP stage. According to the teaching practice of PU, ZU and TU, this paper further points out that ELE should be taught by College English teachers, while ESP should be taught by major-related teachers.
