The Palace Square in the center of Berlin city has been the topical subject and an unsolved difficult problem since Germany unified. The cautious approach on the urban planningfrom German government and enthusiastical participation from both the non govemmental andthe professional lead in more attention from the public, which imbues the whole urban planning with democracy and toerance from different aspects. The paper gives an introduction tothe history, political background, competition schemes and suggesed plans from famous architects.
