Objective To compare the measurement differences of central corneal thickness(CCT) in normal eyes by Fourier domain optical coherence tomography(FD-OCT),Visante optical coherence tomography and Aultrasound pachymetry. Methods CCT of 54 eyes from 27 normal volunteers was measured three times by FD-OCT,Visante OCT and A ultrasound pachymetry, respectively. The values determined by each technique were averaged for each eye and then statistically analyzed. Results Mean CCT measured by FD-OCT,Visante OCT and A ultrasound pachymetry were(530.74±31.74)μm,(554.06±33.32)μm and(531.61±31.76)μm,respectively.There was a significant difference in CCT measurements among the three techniques(F=9.053,P0.01).However,no statistical difference between FD-OCT and A ultrasound pachymetry was observed(P0.05),statistical differences between Visante OCT and A ultrasound pachymetry,FD-OCT(All P0.05).Visante OCT and FD-OCT measurements were highly correlated(r=0.949).Visante OCT values were a mean of(23.32±10.46)μm thicker than FD-OCT values, the 95% CI of difference was from 20.46 μm to 26.17 μm.Conclusions As the gold standard in corneal thickness measurement,A ultrasound pachymetry shows some limitations withy the increase of examination comfort and speed.New noncontact devices to measure corneal thickness have been developed, but measurement deviation must be noticed.
