Objective:To observe the regulating effect of waterextract of burdock on serum lipids in hyperlipidemia model rats and normal rats. Methods:Hyperlipidemia model rats and normal rats were respectively given 9g/60kg body weight waterextract of burdock by gavage administration. The levels of serum lipids were detected before and after the gavage administration. Results:Waterextract of burdock showed effects of lowering blood lipids on three groups of rats.In control group serum TC,TG,HDL and LDL declined respectively from 1.60±0.20(mmol/L),0.62±0.16(mmol/L),1.04±0.15(mmol/L),0.95±0.11(mmol/L)to 1.29±0.14(mmol/L),0.49±0.12(mmol/L),0.82±0.14(mmol/L),0.76±0.09(mmol/L),serum indexes of rats with persistent high fat diet declined respectively from 5.08±2.22(mmol/L),1.40±0.39(mmol/L),1.85±0.61(mmol/L),2.04±1.18(mmol/L)to 3.70±2.17(mmol/L),0.94±0.37(mmol/L),1.01±0.59(mmol/L),1.21±1.14(mmol/L),while serum indexes of rats with stoping high fat diet after hyperlipidemia model declined respectively from 1.85±1.70(mmol/L),0.62±0.13(mmol/L),0.98±0.09(mmol/L),0.92±0.09(mmol/L) to 1.38±1.45(mmol/L),0.46±0.18,(mmol/L)0.85±0.12(mmol/L),0.83±0.09(mmol/L).there are no effects on HDL and LDL.Conclusion:Waterextract of burdock shows obvious effect of regulating serum lipids,so there is a hopeful prospect for the application and exploration of burdock products.
