l carnitine is a compound in animal's body which relates to fatty acids metabolism. Its main function is as a carrier in the transport of long chain fatty acids over the mitochondrial inner membrane where it promotes fatty acids β oxidation. This article discussed l carnitine's brief history, chemical properties, content in food, biosynthesis, functions, deficiencies, nutriture, trophism and clinical uses, productions etc.
