Objective To investigate the effects of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring,(ABPM)on the condition of sleeping at night on patients with hypertension in difference age. Methods 102 cases of patients with hypertension were divided into 4 groups by age to compare the changes between their normal condition of sleeping and awakening times at night with the condition of the process of ABPM.Results The sleeping time was shortened and the awakening times were increased in all age groups during the process of ABPM.The differences were statistically significant(P0.05).The effects on the elderly group were more significant than on the young and the middle-aged groups;the differences were statistically significant(P0.05),while in the elderly group itself there was no significant difference. Conclusion The process of ABPM has negative effects on the patients of different ages who are suffering from hypertension, and the effects on the elderly patients are more obvious than those on the younger patients, while there are no significant differences among the elderly.
