Standing at 4000 meters above the sea level,the monastery is at the border among Gansu, Qinghai and Sichuan provinces. From the eighth of the first month of Chinese lunar year, a series of Buddhist ritual ceremonies will be held to celebrate the New Year by the Tibetan calendar.
