摘要
对香港科技大学、浦项工业大学和韩国科学技术院三所后发新兴世界一流大学的教师队伍进行的统计分析表明:三所后发新兴世界一流大学都拥有一支达到世界一流水平的师资队伍;它们的师资以具有博士学位的教师为主,且绝大部分是从世界一流大学获得博士学位,"近亲繁殖"的比例极低。相对于先发的世界一流大学,后发的世界一流大学是值得我国高校特别关注和借鉴的。在短时期内构建起一支高水平的师资队伍是后发新兴世界一流大学成功的决定性因素,这一发现对我国目前的世界一流大学建设具有借鉴意义。
This study investigates the faculty workforce in three latecomer world-class universities,namely Hong Kong University of Science and Technology,Pohang University of Science and Technology,and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.The study finds that,the three latecomer universities are all dominated by faculty who received their PhD from established world-class universities;overseas returnees form the main body of the faculty;and the phenomenon of faculty inbreeding basically does not exist at the universities.In these universities,a key to their success is to attract and retain a prominent faculty in a fairly short period.These latecomer world-class universities that were established recently but have already gained world-class status,could give lessons to build world-class universities in China.
