This paper probes into the spatial inhabitancy of Baima Tibatans living in edge zone of ancient China from the perspective of cultural geography. The marginality shapes non-mainstream cultural features of Baima Tibetan groups.Shaga hat not only becomes an external characterization of non-mainstream culture and the representative of their costume, but also is regarded as their clan symbol. The internal imagery of Shaga hat is rooted in Baiji legend based on the social memory of common people. The agreement of its external characterization and internal imagery forms one of basic elements of ethnic identity of Baima Tibetan nationality.
