Originated from western countries from the 1980s,boutique hotel,as a specialized type in hotel industry,has been a leading fashion of contemporary luxury hotels.Through reviewing the origin and the development process of boutique hotels,this article analyzes the characteristics of such properties and sub-categorizes boutique hotels with regard to hotel management and marketing,and ends up with a brief summary of new global trends of boutique hotels.
