New Development of Upper Echelon Theory: Opening Demographic Black Box

摘要 通过回顾及分析战略管理、行为金融学等相关领域涉及高层管理人员的相关文献,对高阶梯队理论的发展背景以及近年来面临的严峻挑战进行了较为全面的总结。为了应对挑战,高阶梯队理论从广度、深度2个方面进行了拓展,进而演变成现在统称的战略领导力。该理论最为突出的发展是对心理构念的直接测量或多项目间接测量,伴随着这一拓展,高阶梯队理论在多个人格维度进行了新的研究,许多研究结果及方法为战略管理、行为金融学,甚至总统领导力研究等提供了很好的启示。最后,总结了这方面研究存在的不足并提出了相关建议。 This article reviews the background and development of Upper Echelon Theory,and serious challenges have to be faced with.Under the pressure,Upper Echelon Theory has further broadens its width and depth,and develops into strategic leadership.The most prominent improvements of empirical studies are methods adopted to directly measure the underlying psychological construct.Many studies apply these methods to exploring the relationship between CEO personalities and strategic outcomes.We also summarize some limitations of the research in this field and make some suggestions.
