摘要
意象图式作为隐喻的认知基础,在隐喻构建、转喻映射中源域与目标域的建构以及隐喻与转喻互动中起着重要的作用。主要从意象图式的角度,对中美教育语篇进行实例对比分析,归纳总结出中美教育语篇中常用的四个主要意象图式:容器、部分/整体、路径和平衡图式,三个常用隐喻:教育是经济、教育是场战争和社会是座大厦(教育是基石)。三个常用隐喻中的前两个大多出现在美国教育语篇中,后一个大多出现在中国教育语篇中;究其根源,中西文化模式的基本差异导致了中西方教育思想的根本区别,西方教育思想重功利、重竞争、重个体,而东方则重群体、重和谐。
As the cognitive basis of metaphor,image schemas play an important role in the construction of metaphors,and the structure of the source and target domain of a metonymic mapping in conceptual interaction between metaphor and metonymy.The thesis makes the contrastive case study of Chinese and American educational discourses from the perspectives of image schemas.It sums up four image schemas-CONTAINER,PART/WHOLE,PATH and BALANCE schemas,and compares the differences of Chinese and American educational equality and reveals their reasons in terms of BALANCE and CONTAINER schemas.Meanwhile,it summarizes three metaphors widely used in educational discourses-EDUCATION IS ECONOMY,EDUCATION IS A WAR and A SOCIETY IS A BUILDING(education is the cornerstone of a society),and the former two metaphors are mostly found in American discourses while the latter in Chinese discourses.The causes of the difference can be traced back to the different cultural models.Western culture emphasizes utility,competition and individualism while Eastern culture focuses on collectivism and harmony.
