Water—rock interaction in conjunction with the isotopic study of strontium,hydrogen and oxygen is introduced using the model calculating methods for ore forming fluids.The quartz vein type gold deposits in the southwestern Hunan Province are taken as examples to illustrate the nature and origin of ore forming medium of hydrothermal ore deposits.The results of different water—rock exchanges using the model calculating methods are interpreted.It is proposed that great ores should be taken in interpretating genesis of ore deposits with δD δ 18 O diagrams.
