Abstract Inclined terrain plays a significant role in the atmospheric dynamic processes , especiallyin the atmospheric boundarylayer process. The most important clirnatic characteristics ofthe Antarctic katabatic wind and inversion wind would occur when the air adjacent tothe inclined surface is radiatively cooled. No any phenomenon on the earth can be like kata-batic wind in influencing the climate of the whole continent. The Scientific Committee onAntarctic Research (SCAR) (1992) pointed out that the current general circulation modelsproduce very insufficient results on the simulation of the cloud and precipitation over theAntarctic continent and sub-Antarctic region, and one of the problems is probably due to un-suitable nunierical treatment on the dynamic processes of the atmospheric boundary layerover the inclined terrain of the Antarctic continent.
