On How to Improve Students' English Writing Ability from the Differences of English and Chinese Thinking Modes

摘要英语写作水平是英语学习听、说、读、写、译五项基本技能中的重要一项,最能反映一个人对英语的综合运用能力。然而,写作水平的提高却一直是困扰英语专业学生的一大障碍。文章从语言与思维的关系入手,阐述了英汉思维方式的差异,分析了思维方式差异对英语专业学生写作能力的影响,探讨了提高英语专业学生写作能力的方法。 English writing is an important skill in five basic skills of Enlish leaning.It can reflect a person＇s comprehensive ability to utilize the English language.However,it is one of the major obstacles for English majors to improve their English writing ability.Based on the relationship between language and thought,the paper elaborates the differences between English and Chinese thinking modes,analyzes the impacts of thinking modes on the writing ability of English majors,and explores the approaches to improve the writing ability of English majors.
