摘要
内战前爱尔兰移民大量涌入美国,其中多数选择在城市中定居下来。这种定居模式是多种因素共同起作用的结果,既有经济上的因素,又有文化上的因素。爱尔兰移民蜂拥而至,对美国城市产生了前所未有的冲击:加剧了美国原有的城市问题。本文试就内战前爱尔兰移民的定居模式与美国城市问题之前的关系进行一番探讨,以企加深对内战前爱尔兰移民及其内战前美国社会的认识。
Before the Civil War,amounts of Irish poured into America and most of them fixed in America.Their residence pattern has been shaped by elements of economy and culture.The sudden arrival of the crowds of Irish impacted the American city system and uncovers its problems.This paper discusses the relation between the residence pattern of Irish immigrants and the problem of American city system,so as to strengthen our research on Irish immigrants and American society.
