摘要
通过对"等效"翻译理论的回顾,我们认为:该理论是由翻译理论家从译者的立场出发,来阐述译者如何预测译文读者在阅读译文文本时产生的反应,但他们似乎没有对译者做出这种预测背后的心理动机进行深入的探讨。为了揭示这个问题,笔者借鉴语用学理论和社会心理学理论,尝试性地提出"译文读者为中心的认知和谐原则",来探讨在翻译过程中译者的思维如何运作;并指出该原则的理论意义和实践意义。
Our critical review of "equivalence", the dominant evaluative concept in translation studies, shows that it is proposed by translation theoreticians who, starting from the translator' s standpoint, expound how they predict what reactions the target audience will have when reading the translated text. But the theoreticians seem to have ignored a deep probe into the translator's motivations behind such predictions. To uncover how the translator' s mind works, the author turns to pragmatic theories and social psychological theories for insights to tentatively propose the Target Audience-Centered Principle of Cognitive Consonance to explore how the translator' s mind operates behind his target linguistic choices. Finally we point out the significance of this principle both in theory and in practice.
