OBJECTIVE To discuss the risk factors for the central venous catheter-related infections in patients with severe trauma so as to provide basis for developing treatment measures of infections.METHODS A follow-up surveillance was carried out for the patients with central venous catheter-related infections from Jan.to Dec.2009 and from Jan.to Dec.2010,statistical analysis of surveillance result was performed.RESULTS The major risk factors for central venous catheter-related infections included poor sterile operation, did not pay attention to intubation care, decrease in immunity and so on.After implementing targeted monitoring and a series of intervention measures, the incidence of central venous catheter-related infections dropped from 11.9% in 2009 to 5.4% in 2010.CONCLUSION For the risk factors of catheter-related infections in patients with severe trauma, implementing targeted interventions can significantly reduce the incidence of the catheter-related infections.
