The harmfulness of oily sludge and national regulations for oily sludge supervision are summarized. The composition of oily sludge in crude oil exploitation and refining is analyzed. The treatment effects of some oily sludge pre-dewatering processes, such as settling-thickening and mechanical dewatering, are introduced. The technological processes, treatment effects and problems of the treatment processes, such as scum coking, oily sludge hot extraction and residual activated sludge drying using flue gas as heat source, are expounded.
