摘要
翻译在跨文化信息交流中是一种重要的信息转化手段。由于文化的民族性和多样性特征,译者在翻译活动中难免会遭遇到文化缺省的现象,因此翻译时必须采取适当的补偿策略,才能使译文读者欣赏到原作所体现的异域文化。本文以《红楼梦》的杨译本为例来探讨翻译中的文化缺省现象及文化补偿策略。
Translation is a kind of cross-cultural information communication activity. Because of the cultural diversity and its historical characteristics, it is unavoidable to experience cultural default in translation. Thus some translation compensation strategies should be adopted in order to make readers appreciate the essence of foreign culture. This paper intends to discuss the strategies of translation compensation for cultural default with examples from A Dream of Red Mansion of Mr. Yang ＇s English version.
