Richard Peto is an epidemiologist and statistician with international fame. He is dedicated to the study of etiology, clinical treatment, public health and preventive measures. Over three decades, he has made a great contribution to China’s disease prevention, which brought him the Friendship Award. 'Being living, being dead, being old and being sick are four things everybody encounters in a life. It’s natural law. But we can avoid diseases caused by unhealthy habits and bad therapeutic methods. What we need to do is to find the cause of diseases and work out the therapies,' said Peto.
