[ Objective ] To study the effect of long-term low- dose ionizing radiation on Lens of the eye of radiation workers. [ Methods ] Questionnaire survey and slit-lamp examination of the eye lens opacity were performed on 474 hospital radiation workers and 157 controls, the results were analyzed statistically. [ Results] Compared with non - radiation workers, the risk of eye lens o- pacity among radiation workers engaged in diagnostic radiology, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology was increased, with OR equal to 1.16 ( 95% CI = 0. 62,2. 15 ), 1.62 1 95% CI = 0. 76,3.45 ), 1.96 ( 95% CI = 0. 78,4. 95 ), 2. 12 195% CI = 0. 91,4. 95 ), respectively. [ Conclusion] Long-term low- dose ionizing radiation can lead to the increasing risk of eye lens opacity among radiation workers. Therefore, the protection on eyes of radiation workers should be enhanced.
