摘要
龙王护佛图像讲述的是目真邻陀龙王在暴风雨季庇护释迦牟尼佛,免受暴雨袭击的佛传故事。龙王护佛图像在佛教艺术的发展过程中,实现了从佛传叙事浮雕图像向单尊圆雕造像的革命性转变,经历了从无佛像到佛像诞生和佛像发展与传播的三大重要历史阶段,最终确立了具有标志性的以"龙冠、龙座"为特征的龙王像和坐姿佛像组合表现的龙王护佛图像,在整个佛教艺术史上具有重要地位和价值。
The buddha sheltered by naga image gave an account of the Buddhist story that Mucilinda naga sheltered Sakyamuni buddha from rainstorm in the storm season.In buddist art development,this image accomplished a revolutionary transformation from narrative relief sculpture to single circular sculpture,and experienced three important phases from pre-icon to icon and spread southeast in buddhist art history.And finally,there was established one characteristic image which was combined naga nimbus and naga throne with sitting buddha.Therefore,buddha sheltered by naga image has great value and position in the whole buddhist art history.
