It is traditional China and modern America that compose the complete life of all Chinese Americans who are strolling marginalized by the mainstream society in America.Meanwhile, these Chinese Americans are trying to deepen their understanding of Chinese Americans' history, and reflect on the relationship between the mainstream society and themselves. It is known that a fierce cultural conflict between the different spaces would produce a unique but changing world view, which is beneficial to the formation of the Chinese Americans' subjectivity in the cultural difference. The role that the space settings have played in the formation of Chinese Americans' self-identity in Amy Tan's The Bonesetter's Daughter is analyzed.
