摘要
徐树铮是民国北洋时期著名军事、政治人物,师法桐城,与马其昶、姚永概、林纾等桐城派文人交往密切,亦师亦友,重新校点了姚鼐的《古文辞类纂》使其更完善,反对"骈,散"的门户之见,主张吸纳各派所长,对桐城文化的传承和推广发挥了重要的作用。
XU Shu-zheng, an eminent military and political figure in the Beiyang Government of the Republic of China （ 1912--1949）, modeled himself after the Tongcheng school and had close contacts with MA Qi-chang, YAO Yang-gai, LIN Shu and other literati of the Tongcheng school, like teachers and friends. He checked, annotated and improved Yao Lai＇ s Classified Collection of Writings in Ancient-style Prose. He was opposed to the sectarian bias of rhythmical prose and ordinary prose and insis- ted on learning from each others＇ strong points, thus playing an important role in inheriting and promoting the Tongcheng culture.
