The mausoleum unearthed in Dayunshan, Xuyi, Jiangsu Province, was a significant archaeological discovery of royal Han tombs. It remains very well with little disturbance. The mausoleum is in a large scale with a clear layout. The square shape shows the difference between tombs of princes and emperors in the Han Dynasty. The area hosting tombs for the wife and concubines of the prince was well designed, which tells the identities and statuses of the owners. The unearthed exotic objects such as gold and silver wares, which are believed to have links with the Marine Silk Road, reflect the international cultural exchanges at the time and the conformity of the local culture with the central plain of China. Other issues such as the layout of the mausoleum, the tomb gates, the location of the pits for chariots and horses, as well as the techniques to decorate lacquers with gold and silver inlays are also worth academic attention.
