摘要
通过跟范发迪教授的访谈,探讨了他在科学史研究方面的一些独特经历。范发迪教授围绕着他的代表作《清代在华的英国博物学家:科学、帝国与文化遭遇》一书,向我们介绍了他进入科学史研究的契机、博物学的选题、相关研究方法等问题,并对未来的科学史研究作了一些展望,最后介绍了他近期所做的一些研究工作。
In this interview, Professor Fa-ti Fan tells his intellectual development as a historian of science and shares his thoughts on major methodological issues in studying the history of science in general and the history of natural history in particular. Starting with his book, British Naturalists in Qing China： Science, Empire, and Cultural Encounter, he reflects on his experience of researching and writing the work, his interest in understanding scientific practice, and his methodological ap- proach to the study of science in cultural encounter.
