Objective To determine the level of bisphenol A (BPA) in animal source foods in Wuhan urban area, investigate dietary pattern, calculate the BPA exposure level via animal source foods, and assess the health risk of exposure to BPA from animal source foods among local residents. Methods 78 samples containing 13 kinds of animal food were ran- domly selected, and the concentration of BPA was determined by LC-MS. 338 people from 180 families were randomly cho- sen. What they ate in recent three days was reviewed, and the amount of animal source foods intake per capita was analyzed. The average BPA exposure was assessed through the concentration of BPA in the investigated samples and dietary data, and the BPA exposure risk level of the local residents were assessed via animal source foods intake. Results the concentration of BPA in animal source foods was between 0. 0 to 11.7 ng/g. The intake of animal source foods was 277.48 g.d-1 per capita in dietary survey data analysis. The average daily intake (ADI) of BPA was 11.38 ng/kg bw/day, which was obviously lower than the international limited dose (50 μg/kg/d). Conclusions Only micro-amount BPA in the majority of animal source foods in Wuhan could be detected, therefore, this would not affect adversely to the health of the local residents.
