摘要
本文以吧国公堂(荷印吧城华人公馆)档案资料文献为依据,考察和分析吧国公堂司法行政职能的演变,从中探讨吧城华人司法行政制度的文化内涵及其对华人社会的意义,进而更为深刻地了解荷印殖民统治下吧城华人在竭力保持自身中华文化传统的同时,又不可避免地逐步融入殖民地社会体系的历史发展进程。
Based on the archives of the Chinese Council in Batavia, this paper investigates and analyzes the evolu- tion of judicial and administrative system of the Chinese Council in Batavia in order to explore its cultural connota- tion and the significance to the Chinese community. It gives a deeper understanding on the historical process that the Batavian Chinese kept the Chinese cultural tradition as well as gradually integrated into the process of colonial social life in the Netherlands East Indies.
